Does anyone have a suggestion or a solution to this? Hi Nikitas. Fylaktou , This is Cheron responding for Priscilla who is on vacation. See additional comment from consultant below. Brand Representative for Microsoft. Have you tried connecting a different monitor?
I've tried plenty of monitors and all of them flicker. Some less, some more. It has to do with the power supply being close to the VGA port. What device do you have? Maybe there is a known issue with the device and the video card? I've tried connecting it to another surge protector ,nothing. I completely changed all the cables , both from the monitor and the laptop , the device the user has an HP s and it sits on Windows Priscilla HP can you help point to updated video card drivers for the HP ?
See here is the tricky part. When the user started using that laptop he has windows 7 on. He started complaining about how slow the laptop was and that he would like to have a Windows So i upgraded the laptop to windows 10 and added some memory aswel. I searched the for the drivers and couldnt find compatible drivers for Windows 10 for the particular GPU. But here is a hint;.
I've tried connecting my laptop to an external monitor a really good one the screen was still flickering. No is not limited to one device neither one monitor.
There are alot of reports about this but it was always something not so important. The screen the user has is old lets say years old but when connected to a desktop and used as external monitor it works absolutely fine. So maybe the issue is with the laptops not being powerful enough to power the external displays I've only experienced this a handful of times.

The solution was to use a shielded patch cable. Seems to be a problem with electric fields. It may be a stupid question at this point, but are you using VGA cables with ferrite beads on them or just the cheaper plain cables? Make sure the power adapter fulfills electric current requirement for your model. Try please another power adapter. It is possible you have defective capacitors in the adapter you are using.
Avoid mobile phones and mobile modems in proximity of your system. They can cause intermittent monitor flickering. As i mentioned there refresh rate is 60hz and cannot be changed. As for the resolution is set correctly. I had a customer bring in an HP laptop recently with a similar complaint this was a Pavilion, not a Probook. He complained that video was bad when plugged in but fine on battery. That is, playing YouTube or similar, video was black and white or snowy. I couldn't duplicate the problem in-shop but he never provided his power supply for me the test with.
I sold him a new power supply and haven't heard back. Note that he was having trouble on the LCD panel, not an external. Maybe the complaint was not so similar after all To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Lenovo 53, Followers - Follow Mentions Products.
